Hastings & St Leonards-on-Sea - THE food hub on the Sussex coast.

Hastings and St Leonards in East Sussex are rapidly becoming a premier food destination on the South Coast, blending a historic fishing heritage with creative dining. Hastings food options range from fish & chips (Maggie’s above the fish market),  pizzas (Imperial), gastropubs (The Crown), Mediterranean (coquina @ Hastings Contemporary) to Times rated fine dining (Lurys). West along the sea front St Leonards-on-Sea (est. 1828 as a resort) has food options range from pizzas (Dora’s), Fish (Boatyard) to Modern European (Bayte). Also funky beach cafes (Goat Ledge).
Local beers from Brewing Brothers and East Sussex Sparkling Wine tours. Hastings & St Leonards have a plentitude of antique & vintage shops, bookshop and galleries.
We see that Time Out agrees with us too.

Signal/Coalition merger update

Signal was set up in 2015 as the Carriage Brewery.  A year later, Charlie Luckin joined and formed the Signal Brewery, initially only brewing lager.  In 2025 Signal merged with Coalition as Signal Coalition Brewing Ltd because Coalition had clients but no capacity and Signal had clients and capacity. Online sales only whilst restructuring takes place in the brewery. More info

Kerfield Arms is the 2nd pub in London to be awarded a Michelin Star

Sadly after 14 years The Crooked Well closed down last year. The good news is that the team behind The Baring, N1, have taken on the lease & will trade under its original name of the Kerfield Arms. More info. In the 80’s the fabulous The House of Love played some early gigs there.
